Popular grocery stores in Marquette and Escanaba hosted contingents of Hiawathaland Farm Bureau members last month as part of the central-U.P. organization’s 2026 membership recruitment campaign.
Super One Foods in Marquette and Elmer’s County Market in Escanaba set the stage for spotlighting the value of Farm Bureau membership for prospects coming and going to and from, logically enough, the place where most consumers make many of their daily food-product choices.
Longtime Hiawathaland leaders Diane & Dennis Hanson led the effort in Escanaba, while board member and local radio personality Todd Noordyk spearheaded things up in Marquette.
Interspersed during commercial breaks throughout Great Lakes Radio’s music programming, Noordyk plugged the importance of local agriculture to the central-U.P. community between two of the Upper Peninsula’s largest towns.
Helping connect the dots for listeners and consumers, Marquette Super One Foods Manager Mike LaVigne backed Noordyk’s boosting of U.P. farmers and sweetened the pot by giving away five vouchers good for $50 in groceries at his store.
Other promotional incentives included steak for a year from Texas Roadhouse, free milk from DeBacker Family Dairy and deals from sponsors U.P. Propane and A.M. Fleet Maintenance.
Other promo spots touched on Farm Bureau’s mission to uplift Michigan farm families and the several program areas where members can get involved in communication, policy, leadership development and consumer outreach.
