Karker Scholarship recipients honoring legacy, growing the future

Since 1967, the Marge Karker Scholarship has supported hundreds of Michigan State University students pursuing agriculture-related certificates, undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Karker dedicated more than 37 years to Michigan Farm Bureau as both a volunteer leader and staff member. Her dynamic leadership of the Women’s Program launched organization-changing initiatives such as the Washington Legislative Seminar and laid the foundation for today’s Promotion & Education program.

For 2025, the Marge Karker Scholarship received more than 14 eligible applications from students representing as many county Farm Bureaus. MSU’s Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Administration Team reviewed submissions and selected six students to receive awards for the 2025-26 academic year:

  • Ava Mitchell — Lenawee County
  • Kassie Acker — Gratiot County
  • Katelyn Lindemann — Monroe County
  • Zoey Zupin — Kent County
  • Laken DuRussel — Bay County
  • Bryce Ritter — Shiawassee County

These scholarship recipients will be recognized on stage at the 2026 Voice of Agriculture Conference. County Farm Bureaus are encouraged to congratulate their local awardees and celebrate them within their communities.
